SUMMARY:Lamar County Genealogical Society monthly meeting
DESCRIPTION:The Lamar County Genealogical Society will hold it's monthly meeting Tuesday\, February 14th at 6:30 pm. The meeting will be held in the genealogy library at 1125 Bonham Street in the historic depot building.\n \nIn honor of Black History Month\, our speaker\, Mrs. Thelma Dangerfield\, will present a program on"The Way It Was Growing up African American". The program is an introduction to available information in the library on African American families in Lamar County. Mrs. Dangerfield has spent\, and continues to spend countless hours on research in this field. After years of being a weekly volunteer at the library\, she is currently substituting when needed. She also holds the office of Membership Chairman.\n \nA poem written about the community by Mrs. Alma Twitty\, will be presented by the author\, along with a song about the community \, written and sung by Roosevelt Twitty.
