SUMMARY:McDonald Observatory lecture by the director of the observatory
DESCRIPTION:May 5\, 2014\, will mark the 75th anniversary of the founding of The University of Texas at Austin McDonald Observatory in the Davis Mountains of West Texas. As you all may know\, the observatory was created by a bequest from William J. McDonald of Paris\, who died in 1926. After his will was litigated\, it provided funding to build the first major telescope at the McDonald Observatory\, which was dedicated on May 5\, 1939. \n\nIn celebration of this anniversary\, the observatory will be having a number of events around the state\, which will include an event in Paris\, TX. The Director of the McDonald Observatory\, David Lambert\, will be in Paris on Friday\, May 2\, 2014 to give a lecture about the observatory and its history. The event will be held in conjunction with the Friday Rotary Club meeting which is located in the PJC Ballroom at 12:00 PM. \n\nIf you or any of your colleagues are interested in attending the event\, please feel free to get more information from one of the Texas Exes board members or email Jay Hodge at jay.hodge@jameshodgemotors.com.
