"Christmas at the Maxey House"
As part of Holiday in Paris festivities, "Chrustmas at the Maxey House" is scheduled from 11 am - 5 pm on Sat. Dec. 8th. Guides will be located in each room to explain past Christmas traditions rom the 1880's. Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for students ages 6 - 18 and free for children 5 years old and younger. "Visitors will learn about Victorian Christmas traditions like Christmas cards, decorations, Christmas dinners and gift giving" said Kaitlin Ammon, site manager for the Texas Historical Commission museum located at 812 South Church Street. "After they have walked through the house, they will have the opportunity to make their own Christmas cards, since Christmas cards became popular during the Vistorian eara." Guests also can make a good fortune walnut, a typical Victorian-era Christmas tree ornament. A wonderful tour with a lot of neat surprises.
