TEXAS RANGERS 2013 WINTER CARAVAN TRAVELS
TO PARIS ON JANUARY 14
The 2013 Texas Rangers Winter Caravan will travel to Paris on Monday, January 14 as the Rangers Baseball Foundation will be making a special grant presentation to the Paris Breakfast Optimist Club. The grant will be used to renovate dugout conditions to help improve the game experience for young players.
Participating in the Caravan will be Rangers pitchers Justin Grimm and Tanner Scheppers, Rangers first base coach Dave Anderson, and Rangers radio broadcaster Eric Nadel.
The grant presentation will take place at 11:00 a.m. at Paris Junior College, Hunt Athletic Center, 2400 Clarksville St. Also attending on behalf of the Rangers will be Foundation Executive Director Karin Morris.

PARIS CARAVAN PARTICIPANTS
JUSTIN GRIMM (RHP)—Made his major league debut with the Rangers in 2012 and will be looking for a spot in the team’s starting rotation in 2013…had an outstanding start at Frisco (AA) in 2012, going 9-3 with a 1.72 ERA in 16 games with 73 strikeouts in 83.2 innings…was promoted to Texas on June 16 and defeated Houston, 8-3 in his major league debut on June 18…had 7 strikeouts and no walks in that outing…returned to Frisco on July 7,,,was recalled again on Sept. 1 and pitched twice in relief in final month…was 1-1 with a 9.00 ERA in 5 games/3 starts overall…also went 2-3 with a 4.59 ERA in 9 games at Round Rock (AAA)… was a 5th round pick in the 2010 1st Year Player Draft.
TANNER SCHEPPERS (RHP)—Tied for 4th on the Rangers staff with 39 appearances and tied for 2nd with 13 games finished in his rookie season…had a 1-1 record and 4.45 ERA with 30 strikeouts in 32.1 innings…was with the Rangers from June 7-August 25 and September 1-end of season…posted a 1.00 ERA (2 ER/18.0 IP) over a span of 23 games from July 7-Sept. 13…earns 1st save on June 29 vs. OAK and 1st victory on August 16 at NYY…was sidelined by a bruised right knee in September…was 1-2 with a 3.48 ERA and 11 saves at Round Rock…was supplemental 1st round pick (44th overall selection) in the 2009 1st Year Player Draft.
DAVE ANDERSON—Begins his 5th season as the Rangers infield instructor and 1st season as first base coach after 4 years as the third base coach…joined the Texas organization in 2007, serving as the manager at Frisco (AA)…has also worked in the Tigers and Dodgers organizations and spent 5 seasons as the head baseball coach at the University of Memphis…played 10 years as an infielder in the majors with the Dodgers and Giants and was a member of Los Angeles’ 1988 World Series champions.
ERIC NADEL—Is the lead radio announcer for Rangers games on 103.3 FM ESPN and the Rangers radio network of over 60 stations in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Missouri, and New Mexico…2013 will be his 35th year broadcasting Rangers baseball, the longest tenure of any announcer in the history of the franchise and the 2nd longest continuous stint in the American League…became the lead radio announcer in 1995…has been a finalist for the Ford C. Frick Award the last 3 years and is a 7-time recipient of the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association Texas Sportscaster of the Year Award…is a 2012 inductee into the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame.
