Paris High track invitational renamed in honor of student athlete, Deon Minor
Paris High School's track invitational has a new name to honor a legendary student athlete. The Deon Minor Wildcat Relays will bring some of the best track and field athletes to Paris High School. The Relays were renamed in honor of track and field champion Deon Minor and he will be honored in a ceremony during the 2014 Deon Minor Wildcat Relays @ 5:30 pm. Deon has won two state championships Division 4A-400m. He was State and National record holder his Senior year in 1991. He was named to the Texas UIL All-Century Track & Field Team. While at Baylor University he earned 14 All American honors and was a four time NCAA champion in the 400m and 4x400 m relay. He won two consecutive gold medals in the relay at the LAAF World Indoor Championships setting a world record of 3:02.83 minutes in the mile relay. He was a Junior World Champion Seoul, Korea, and was a US Olympic Trial qualifier.
